Nurtura began from a straightforward observation: most families in Sarawak hold more practical documents than anyone in the household can describe off the top of their head — and when those documents are needed, the person who knew where they were may not be available. Identity papers, school records, insurance correspondence, the household contact list — these things exist, but they are rarely organised in a way that a second adult in the family could locate without a lengthy search.
The business was set up in Kuching to do one thing well: help households understand what they hold, record where it is, and keep that record current. The scope is administrative. Nurtura does not interpret documents, does not provide legal or financial input, and does not act on a family's behalf in any professional capacity. Where a matter falls outside that scope, it is noted in writing with a referral to the appropriate type of professional or office.
The same clarity applies to the Caring Together Workshop. Adult siblings who share practical care of a parent often find that responsibility distributes itself by default — whoever is nearest, whoever has more time that week, whoever is willing to ask and receive no clear answer. The workshop does not address health decisions or emotional dynamics. It covers the practical organising tools: written care calendars, appointment logs, task lists, and a short monthly check-in structure that siblings can run themselves.
The Family Continuity Programme extends the document organisation work across twelve months, so that a household's records reflect life as it actually is rather than how it was when the stocktake was first done. When a child starts secondary school, when a parent moves, when insurance is renewed — the index is updated. At the end of the year, a handover pack is prepared so that any adult in the family can take over coordination without a briefing.
Nurtura is based at Jalan Padungan in Kuching and works with families across Sarawak.
What guides how we work
Scope before anything else
Every service has a written description of what it includes and what it does not. That description is provided before any appointment is booked, not after. Families should know what they are paying for and what they are not.
Everything in writing
The output of every appointment is a written document the family keeps. Nothing critical is communicated verbally and left unrecorded. If it matters, it is in the index.
Readable by any adult in the household
Output is written so that any adult family member can follow it independently — not just the person who attended the appointment. The index is not a personal document; it belongs to the household.
No obligation in any direction
Families are not urged to take additional services, extend arrangements, or act on anything Nurtura produces. Each service stands alone. Nothing is framed as a step that must be followed by another.

Siti Lyana established Nurtura after fifteen years working in administrative coordination across the public and private sectors in Sarawak. She leads the Household Documents Stocktake service and trains new coordinators.

Workshop Facilitator
Raymond facilitates the Caring Together Workshop, drawing on a background in community programme delivery. He focuses on keeping sessions practical and free of content that belongs in a professional setting.

How Nurtura operates
These are the working standards applied to every service, every time.
Document handling
No original documents are retained, photocopied, or transmitted. Only location and category details are recorded in the index. Digitised sets produced for the Continuity Programme are kept on storage media the family holds.
Written scope before every service
A written service description is provided and acknowledged before any appointment begins. Scope adjustments, if any, are recorded and dated.
Referral in writing
Any matter identified as needing professional input is noted in writing in the session record, with the category of professional (lawyer, registered social worker, government office) indicated.
Personal data protection
Contact and session information is kept for service delivery only and is not shared with third parties. Families may request deletion of their records at any time.
Punctual delivery
Index documents and written outputs are delivered to the family within three working days of the appointment. Continuity Programme updates are recorded at the time of each quarterly review.
Plain-language output
All written output uses plain English. No jargon is used that a non-specialist adult would need to look up. If a term of art must appear, it is explained in a bracketed note alongside it.
Family organisation support in Kuching and across Sarawak
Households across Sarawak accumulate practical records over years — identity documents, school certificates, household agreements, insurance papers, contact lists for services the family uses regularly. Nurtura's work is to record what a household holds, note where each item is kept, and produce a written index that remains with the family. This is administrative work, not professional advice, and it is carried out with that boundary clearly stated at every step.
The Caring Together Workshop addresses a different kind of organisational gap — the one that appears when adult siblings share practical care of a parent without a written structure. The workshop does not touch on health decisions or family dynamics. It covers calendars, task lists, appointment records and the kind of short monthly check-in that keeps communication from drifting. All content is general, all examples are anonymised, and sessions are conducted in groups of up to twelve so that participants can see how other households approach the same questions.
The Family Continuity Programme is suited to households that want their practical documentation to stay current rather than accurate only at a single point in time. Quarterly reviews, maintained indexes and an annual handover pack mean that any adult family member can pick up household coordination at any point — not just the person who has historically held that role.
Nurtura operates from Jalan Padungan in Kuching and is available Monday to Friday, with Saturday morning appointments for clients who need weekend access. All services are priced at a fixed, stated fee with no add-ons charged separately.
